Back in 2015 I worked in the dog food industry. I got to know manufacturers, visit factories and understand how dog food is made. The more I learned, the more concerned I became.
We all know that you are what you eat. Yet we continue to feed our dogs the same food day in, day out. Often the shelf life is measured in years, and the food doesn’t even need to go in the fridge. What’s more, it doesn’t seem to have changed in years.
When we got our new puppy, Crumble, it didn't feel right to give her processed food. So we started making food for her ourselves, as we do for our children. She loved it and thrived on it. We started making it for her friends as well, and they all loved it too. People told us their dogs had shinier coats, better digestion and more bounce. So we decided to help as many dogs as we could by setting up Different Dog.
We’re a passionate bunch, whether about dogs, nutrition or health and exercise. We have a team lunch every week, courtesy of our good friend Jenny. We play great music when we’re cooking and we laugh a lot, mainly at ourselves.
Alex set up Different Dog with Charlie and generally makes things happen. Amazing at multi-tasking, not so good at finding her keys. Or her purse. Or anything.
Alison is our spiritual guru with 20 years as a practicing vet and a first from Cambridge and the proud owner of the lovely Yogi. Her favourite part of the job is asking us difficult questions. And we love her for it.
Becca and Tayto started as customers; our food helped transform Tayto’s life. Becca was so thrilled, she wanted to join the team. She is now on our pick & pack team and keeps the office under control.
Charlie set up Different Dog to change dogs’ lives with real food. He likes day-dreaming and telling stories and may well be the world’s worst driver.
Meg is our membership and community manager. Strong Irish heritage, a talent for falling off horses and along with her labradoodle Peggy, the ability to make everyone laugh.
Georgie oversees quality control in the kitchen and is the epitome of reliability, her rescue dog Lizzie helps too…nothing gets past her super nose. Georgie has recently welcomed new puppy (Mylo) to the family.
Steph is our Operations Manager along with her wonderful rescue dog – Roxy. She’s basically in charge when Alex and Charlie aren’t there. And when they are. These two keep everything running smoothly.
If so, we are recruiting for roles in tech, marketing and operations. Please send a CV and brief covering letter to feedme@differentdog.com
